Growing up in Georgetown Ontario, Naomi began traveling the world at a young age. Her interests led her to a degree in Native Studies and Anthropology at Trent University. Her fascination with adornment and expression got the better of her in 2003 when she began studying carving and silverwork in Baffin Island, Nunavut, in the Canadian Arctic where she trained with reknowned Inuit artist Matthew Nuqingaq. She then journeyed to Mexico, apprenticing Eugenio Morales, a famous silversmith in Chiapas.
Naomi works in both, sterling silver and gold, sculpting, piercing, hammering and etching visions and dreams into reality. Her work can be distinguished by the rare and unusual gemstones she features, cut by her husband Emiliano. Naomi’s Studio is currently located at the Williams Mill Gallery and Visual Art Centre.
