Jamie MacLean

Paintings/Prints/Photography

"My objective is to capture the emotion and dynamics of nature then to convey that enjoyment and awe to the viewer. I want the viewer to look - then look again.

I work primarily in oils using my photo library as a jumping off point for many of my works. I usually paint 'what I see' (realistic) but occasionally focus on 'how I see it' (impressionistic). This is becoming more common as I explore the Georgian Bay Region.

Primary sources of my material are the extensive green spaces in the Toronto area. Both the Don River Valley system and the Rouge Conservation Area offer a wealth of subject matter. Additionally the Georgian Bay area, Muskoka and Haliburton are common subjects."
