Claude Printemps

Claude Printemps began painting in Paris. From 1976 to 1980 she lived in Montmartre and spent time in several artist's studios. She has been living and working in the south of France since 1981. Since 1987 she has taken part in numerous exhibitions in Provence and the rest of France. She divides her time between France and Prince Edward County, Ontario.

"I paint by instinct. I paint my life endeavoring to express the feeling of the moment and the atmosphere rather than the appearance of things. I choose my means of expression as my imagination and creativity dictates. My mind is open and I can go from representational to abstract; from collage to drawing; from acrylic to oil; from card to canvas; from paper to wood.

Both real and fictitious, my inspiration leads me to invent my own visual world.
Colour is the very essence of artistic work and plays a major part in mine."
