Artist Statement:
Finally I am able to be what I really wanted to be when I grew up - an artist! Approaching retirement after over 30 years of teaching, I worked with a life coach. She helped me define my personal mission statement, which is: to trust my enthusiasm, balance with solitude and share precious moments with others. My creative works, both the process and product reflect this perfectly.
During the process, I get enthused about something, I take time alone to express it artistically and then I share it. The product itself, suggests my passion and enthusiasm for something, often with a great deal of movement and energy. And yet, there is usually a quiet place to rest. When others can also enjoy my "precious moments", I am thrilled! How, no matter where I travel, when I "get lost" in my artwork, I know I am home.
Throughout my life, I have been a student of art. I studied art in secondary school in Ottawa, art history in Queen's University in Kingston, attended art classes and workshops locally and internationally. Since 2000 I have exhibited in group and solo shows in the Kingston area. These include juried shows at Modern Fuel Gallery, Kingston Arts Council and the Gananoque Playhouse. I am a member of Art Options Kingston and enjoy teaching watercolour as a volunteer at the Kingston Boys and Girls Club.
My husband Bud and I are very content living in our charming old home in downtown Kingston with our cat and dog. But much leisure time is spent in the country horseback riding, skiing, walking, etc. Travel is also a passion and source of inspiration.
